There's something not right in the world

Aggie's watching Top Gear. I'm chatting on the phone with my sister. I put down the phone in time to hear that the car they are test driving costs £415,000

My house cost £83,000

5 people live in it.

It's been here for over 100 years, and I confidently expect it to still be here in another hundred or two.

£415,000 for a car?

There is something very wrong with the world

And with the people willing to spend that sort of money on a car!

Things haven't changed then, Me and Barney some 25 years ago, proud owners of a new (tiny) house, saw a porsche and wondered at the relative prices.
What's wrong with those people with that sort of money is that they don't spend any on me!!!

Was that the one that was carbon fibre or something? They all thought it was great cause it went so fast..then Stig drove it off the track and through a tire wall? I was only half watching. Cookie was watching it though and he thought it was great....Not sure if he would part with that much cash for a car though. Hmm come to think of it not sure I would let him! We don't even own our house yet...

Yeah... and with the price of fuel these days; I think we should go back to horse and wagon.

Wait a minute. What's the going rate for hay these days?

It always blows my mind when I see a car parked in a driveway of a house the car cost more than. Every now & again my bloke points out a car on the road and says, "that car cost more than our house" - what sort of money must these people have to be throwing it around like that? (Of course, this could be the green-eyed monster speaking).

it always gives me a chuckle to see someone living in a trailor home with a 60,000 (american) car sitting outfront. What WERE they THINKING?

Thanks for having me this week

    Hi dancingMM & fidget. welcome.

it's amazing that anyone would actually own a car that is worth more than their house! Thats some serious priority probelms:-)

but also, how can any car be worth £400k? however fast, pretty or status symbolly, it's just a car. It should get you from a to b. the speed limits kind of make speed irrelevent, and looks are not worth that kind of money!

And think what £400 could be spent on! I feel guilty that I have a spare room in my house when so many people are homeless, hungry, persecuted and sick. I don't think I could live with myself if I spent £400k on a car! it doesn't matter how many millions I had, that is just not right!

I'm still trying to figure out where these people get so much money! I used to think, they're doctors and lawyers. Well, I became a lawyer, but I've yet to see the big bucks! I can't even conceive of spending so much money on a car or even a house. I always think, that's "x" number of paychecks, that would pay for my daughter's braces, groceries for a year, heat for two years, and on and on. I guess I'm just too practical to feel comfortable about spending money on a luxury item. Maybe if I had tons of money that would change, maybe not. :-)
